Gitgaat First Nation
About 130 members of the Gitga’at First Nation (GFN) live on the lands and waters around Txalgiuw (Hartley Bay) in Northern BC. However, hundreds of other members live across the province. Community matters to GFN members, and communication helps bring them together, even when they’re apart.
The Gitga’at First Nation (GFN) wanted to increase member engagement through a professional digital medium that could reach people on all devices, from mobile to desktop. The Nation previously produced a community newsletter called Amhaw, but it had not been delivered since 2019; GFN wanted us to bring it back into circulation.
Working with GFN members across departments, the Good Creative Team sourced content and stories and gathered updates from the Nation. Members were directly involved in writing and contributing content. Good Creative transformed this copy, giving it a cohesive tone and voice for its member audience.
We also created a new branded newsletter design. The goal was to make it professional while feeling familiar. We delivered the newsletter by email and in print, distributed it to members, and posted it on the Nation’s website.
The improved newsletter design, combined with a unified tone of voice, made the content more accessible to more members. This cohesiveness brought members up to speed on important local matters, helping them feel connected to their community.
